Location Most of the week's events will take place at the University of Edinburgh Faculty of Science and Engineering, at Kings Buildings on Mayfield road. Edinburgh University Biology department is large, diverse and has an excellent international reputation, for both education and the research being done here. Beautiful countryside and wildlife surround Edinburgh City, and we will be taking trips out to various places of interest around Edinburgh and Scotland. Accommodation for participants will be provided at Mortonhall Camping and Caravan Park, one mile south of Kings Buildings. So this is the place to head for when you arrive. How to Get Here Registration will take place from 2pm, Saturday 29th July at Mortonhall Camping and Caravan Park. If you intend to arrive in Edinburgh earlier than this, then it is advisable to book a place at the campsite in advance, or there are some excellent hostels in the centre of town. If you are arriving in Edinburgh by plane, train or coach, the best way to get to SymBioSE is by bus. You can buy a day-pass for £1.40, which is advisable, if you plan to head back into the centre later on. If you are arriving after 11pm at night then taxi is the only option, which will cost about £5.00. From the Waverley train station: When you come out of Waverley Station turn right, then left onto Princes Street and take the No. 11 bus. From St. Andrews Square bus station: Take the no. 11 bus from the bus station, and get off at Mortonhall. The Camping and Caravan Park is signposted on the right. From the airport: take from outside the terminal, which takes you to the city centre, then the No 11 bus as above. By Car:
From the North or South, Mortonhall is just 5 minutes from the by-pass.
Exit the bypass at the Straiton or Lothianburn junctions and follow
the signs for Mortonhall. Once at the campsite entrance you will see
signs for SymBioSE.
